In 2006, capital construction costs of the North plant were estimated at approximately 3,600 M USD (260 billion CFP) divided into the following three categories :
- Direct costs: supply of equipment, manufacturing of modules, provisioning of materials in bulk, construction of infrastructure, and services.
- Indirect costs: salaries, payment of consultants, construction of temporary installations, food and accommodation indemnities and travel expenses.
- Project Management Costs: project development costs, development of metallurgical procedures, development of the mine, human resources and training.
- Contingency reserve.
Provisions for unforeseen expenses
In October 2007, the cost of the project is estimated at 3.8 billion USD financed jointly by the two partners SMSP and Xstrata.
