The North Plant is composed of the following facilities:
An open pit mine (operating capacity 5 mtpa) and a mineral preparation facility (3 mtpa)
Access road to mine (12km) and conveyor (11km in 2 sections)
Metallurgical plant: rate of supply in minerals 3mtpa for a ferronickel production of 176,000tpa (60,000tpa of nickel metal content)
Power station:
- Main units: 2 coal boilers and steam turbines at 135MW each
- Backup units: 2 diesel combustion turbines at 40MW each
Port facilities: an access fairway of 4.5km (13m water draught) and a 190m long quay capable of accommodating boats up to 50 0000 DWT
Coal supplying facility (1 mtpa)
Desalination facilities(water supply)
Terrestrial waste storage plants, on the Vavouto peninsula
