 An environmental charter was signed on the 14 of February 2007 by the leaders of Koniambo Nickel SAS and the North Province. It entailed a moral engagement from the partners on the principles of governance that would contribute to limiting the environmental impact of the project, touching on issues such as the quality of air and water, protecting the biodiversity of flora and fauna as well as the restoration of the sites.
The charter will allow for the totality of the players concerned with the project to work in unison in the study of efficient, effective and equitable measures for the preservation of the environment, in response to the concerns of affected populations.
