 Taking into account the peculiar characteristics of the Caledonian fountains and waterways, the hydrology of the environmental study zone has been the object of detailed observations. A monitoring of the numerous physico-chemical parameters has been put in place for the rivers and water currents (flow, suspended matter, dissolved oxygen…) and will be assured continuously throughout the project.
The nine water currents (the Koné, the Confiance, the Pandanus, the Nepia, the Coco, the Taléa, the Fochiamboué, the Voh and the Tiéta) that drain Koniambo have been fitted for this purpose with automatic systems, a water sampling station and a water level recorder. These devices are autonomous thanks to energy supplies via battery and solar panels.
When rain occurs on the massif, samples are taken by the stations at defined intervals and then retrieved for analysis by technicians in order to ascertain the quantity of sediment carried by the rivers during the rainy period in question.
These measures verify the efficiency of antipollution measures in place upstream.
