Koniambo Nickel SAS (KNS)
va procéder à l’installation d’un tuyau d’évacuation des effluents
entre le port industriel et la passe du Duroc. Cette opération a fait
l’objet d’études approfondies pour atténuer l’impact du chantier sur le
lagon.
Ce tuyau rejette de l’eau de mer utilisée pour le
refroidissement des équipements, ainsi qu’un concentrât d’eau de mer
provenant de l’unité de dessalement et des eaux traitées provenant des
deux stations d’épuration industrielle et domestique.

The North Plant: a Modern Industrial Complex
|
 Koniambo Nickel SAS is the industrial operator in charge of constructing the Vavouto metallurgical plant in the Northern Province of New Caledonia, whose production capacity will be 176,000 tonnes of ferronickel (60,000 tonnes of nickel in ferronickel) per year.
This vast and ambitious project aims to utilise the resources of the Koniambo Massif, which contains 150 million tonnes of ore reserves, transforming it on-site and thus contributing to the economic development anticipated in the area.
Supported by the country’s working population in order to ensure the economic rebalancing between the Northern Province and the urban pole of Grand Nouméa (Noumea and its surrounding areas), the North Plant represents a major stake for both the global stainless steel industry and the population of New Caledonia.
